Slowly but surely, peptides have been making their name in the world of skincare. In serums or moisturizers, eye creams or lip balms, you can find peptides all over the place. It’s no wonder: peptides are multi-talented skincare ingredients with a pretty impressive track record in preventing and correcting signs of aging. Join us on this little walk through the beauty aisle, and we’ll help you figure out how to shop for the best skincare products to deliver the benefits of peptides right to your skin.
On this post:
Serums with Peptides
If you want to include peptides in your skincare routine, then a serum is the obvious place to start. After all, the serum tends to be the most concentrated product in any average skincare routine. If you’re looking for a high-quality serum infused with peptides, we really like these two options:
First up is the Sesderma Factor G Renew Rejuvenating Serum. This is a firming serum that not only stimulates collagen production but also promotes skin regeneration, resulting in firmer, more elastic, more resilient skin. Indeed, the formula features a cocktail of anti-aging heavyweights: seven plant-origin growth factors, Malus domestica stem cells, and two peptides (Tripeptide-3 and Tripeptide-5).
If you want to go beyond firmness and target aging signs on a more global level, we like the YOUTH LAB Restoring Serum. It’s a bit of a hidden gem, this one! The revitalizing formula targets the main signs of aging, including wrinkles, loss of firmness, and dullness and lack of luminosity. The star peptide here is Trifluoroacetyl Tripeptide-2 (aka Progeline), but it’s not the only anti-aging active doing heavy-duty work. In this formula, you’ll also find Neodermyl®, an aminoacid-and-mineral complex with a smoothing effect, and Tens’Up™, a chicory-derived patented ingredient that creates an instant lifting effect.
Moisturizers with Peptides
The moisturizing step is the obvious place to pepper in some peptides. After all, peptides are incredible moisturizing ingredients; not only do they help repair the skin barrier, they also provide the skin with valuable anti-aging benefits. If you’re tired of placing all your bets on a serum, then these moisturizers are great options to look into:
One of our favorite peptide-based moisturizers is the Pestle & Mortar Hydrate Moisturizer. Formulated with a silky smooth texture, this cream moisturizes and nourishes the skin without leaving behind any residue. The formula combines deeply moisturizing squalane, derived from olives, with two firming peptides: Palmitoyl Dipeptide-5 Diaminobutyroyl Hydroxythreonine (Syn-Tacks) and Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5 (Syn-Coll). The result is a comprehensive moisturizer that delivers well-balanced moisture along with a firming anti-aging action.
Now, what if you’ve got oily skin? The SVR [Pepti] Biotic Regenerating Smoothing Matt Gel can help. The key ingredients here are pasteurized probiotics, stabilized vitamin C, and hyaluronic acid. While probiotics strengthen and protect the skin barrier, vitamin C protects against free radicals, and hyaluronic acid provides much-needed hydration (and a bit of a plumping effect). So what are the peptides for, you ask? They’re multitalented. In this formula, Dipeptide Diaminobutyroyl Benzylamide Diacetate (Syn-Ake) provides both anti-aging and anti-shine properties, delivering anti-aging care to oily skin without ever harming its balance.
Peptide Eye Creams
Now, onto eye creams. The eye contour is often one of the first areas of the face to show signs of aging, but peptides can help. Here are our recommendations:
The NeoStrata Skin Active Repair Intensive Eye Therapy is an anti-aging eye cream with a comprehensive, near-global action. The formula, which features Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 along with hyaluronic acid and patented Neoglucosamine, promotes multiple actions. Not only does it hydrate the skin, it also provides a lifting and firming effect, reduces puffiness and undereye bags, and helps minimize pigmentation issues around the eyes. Whether you’re struggling with dark circles, sagging lids, crow’s feet, or undereye wrinkles, this cream can help.
And now for something a little different: how do you feel about applying your eye cream with a little dropper? With the SVR Ampoule Refresh Eye Concentrate, it’s like you’re applying a serum to your eye contour. The peptide-in-charge in this formula is Dipeptide Diaminobutyroyl Benzylamide Diacetate (Syn-Ake). However, this is far from the only ingredient worth a mention! The formula also contains caffeine to tackle dark circles and puffiness, and hyaluronic acid to provide a plumping and line-smoothing effect.
Sunscreen with Peptides
Your sunscreen may not be the first product you think of when you think of peptides. However, lo and behold: there are sunscreens with peptides! We have two suggestions:
The first is the popular Vichy Capital Soleil UV-Age Daily Water Fluid SPF50+, an ultra-fluid sunscreen that focuses on preventing signs of aging, such as fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots. In addition to sun filters, this formula features antioxidant vitamin E and niacinamide, and is rich in peptides. In fact, 4% of the formula is composed of a peptide complex that promotes an anti-aging action.
Another peptide-rich sunscreen is the ISDIN FotoUltra Age Repair Fusion Water SPF50. This is a triple-action sunscreen that helps prevent sun damage, promotes skin repair, and helps reverse the visible signs of skin aging. The formula combines hyaluronic acid, DNA Repairsomes®, and two peptides: Li-Q10 (which stimulates the synthesis of coenzyme Q10) and a Collagen Booster Peptide (which, you guessed it, promotes collagen synthesis).
Ampoules with Peptides
If you want to integrate peptides into your skincare routine, you can always do so through the use of skincare ampoules. These highly concentrated little serums work like a shock treatment for your skin–in a good way, of course.
First up are the Endocare Tensage Ampoules, which target loss of elasticity and firmness. As expected from a product from Endocare, these ampoules feature SCA® Growth Factor Technology (a proprietary technology that stimulates collagen production) as well as Tensderm™ (a firming complex of soy phytoestrogens and calcium). Together, these ingredients restore skin firmness and elasticity, but they’re not alone! Joining them are hyaluronic acid and two peptides: Argireline (aka Acetyl Hexapeptide-3 or Acetyl Hexapeptide-8) and Seriseline (a firming hexapeptide).
As for the Babé Healthy Aging+ Multi Defense Age Rescue Ampoules, they are more targeted towards combating wrinkles and expression lines. In addition to a cocktail of vitamins A, C, and E, B3 (aka niacinamide), and B5 (panthenol), these ampoules also contain 2% of a unique peptide complex that helps fight the visible signs of skin aging by activating collagen synthesis. Within this complex you will find Acetyl Hexapeptide-19, Acetyl Hexapeptide-31, and Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-32.
Peptide Lip Treatments
Peptides are effective anti-aging ingredients, so you may be wondering: can you use them on your lips to promote firmness and help reduce wrinkles? The answer is yes! And you won’t even have to improvise by using your favorite peptide-infused serum or moisturizer on your lips; there are targeted lip products out there that place peptides front and center.
Let’s start with the Martiderm Platinum Expression Gel, a gel specially designed to combat expression wrinkles in particularly vulnerable areas, such as around the eyes and lips. Think crows’ feet around the eyes, or “barcode” lines around the lips. Formulated with hyaluronic acid, an octapeptide (SNAP-8), and Dipeptide Diaminobutyroyl Benzylamide Diacetate (Syn-Ake), this gel targets wrinkles through a combination of filling, relaxing and redensifying effects.
If you’re looking for a product that will work specifically on the lips, and not just the lip contour, we recommend the Filorga Nutri-Filler Lips Nutri-Plumping Lip Balm. This is a lip balm, yes, but it’s not like any lip balm you’ve ever tried. Trust us, our Care to Beauty community loves this product. In this formula, you’ll find not only a restorative and nourishing action, but also a volumizing action that helps redefine the shape of wrinkled, aging lips. The key ingredient? A peptide, of course: Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, or Pal-GHK.
Now that we’ve covered the basics of peptide-based skincare, you should have no problem putting together a routine that harnesses the best of this impressive group of ingredients.
